The Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced 37 citizens to death, including former officers “Hisham Ashmawi”, in the case known as ‘Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis’, in which 208 citizens are accused of charges related to targeting army and police officers and planning to sabotage state institutions.
JHR renews its demand to halt the execution of the death penalty in Egypt due to being misused by the authority to kill its political opponents, issued by judicial chambers that lack the standards of justice and law. The Foundation also calls on retrying the accused with conditions and guarantees that lead to fair trials.
