Regarding the Developments in the Case of Poet Abdulrahman Karadavi
In the context of ongoing international human rights and legal efforts aimed at uncovering the fate of Abdulrahman Youssef Karadavi and determining his place of detention in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), we, AFD International (Belgium) and Justice for Human Rights (Turkey), announce the following:
A formal complaint has been submitted to the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances against the UAE, which is committing the crime of enforced disappearance—a crime against humanity—against Abdulrahman Karadavi. Since January 8, 2025, his fate remains unknown, and he has been deprived of all his legal rights.
