Eight citizens were arbitrarily detained in Sharqia and taken to an unknown destination

On Thursday’s dawn, 30th May 2019, the Egyptian authorities arrested eight citizens following arbitrary raids on their houses in Sharkia Governorate and took them to an unknown place. They are:
1- Mohammed Abdullah Awad, an accountant.
2 – Atwa Lamloom, a teacher.
3- Ayman Al-Sawah, a teacher.

  1. El-Sayed Ahmed Shata, an engineer.
    5 – Abdul Aziz Amer, a merchant.
    6- Mohamed Sa’ad Qalajah, a teacher.
    7.Gawda A’kla.
  2. Ghareeb Masso’ud, a teacher.

JHR condemns both arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance of the eight citizens, calls for revealing their whereabouts and releasing them immediately, and also affirms that the Egyptian authorities bear full responsibility for their safety.
